Singing bowl cushions or pillows are very useful as you should not place singing bowl on hard surface (floor, table etc.) without some isolating material inbetween. Cushions help to stabilise bowl when it is beaten, it helps to avoid sharp, rasp noise what you can get by beating the bowl that is placed on the hard surface, and, finally, it is much easier to move bowl from one place to another if needed, for example, during sonotherapy.
